Passing - Ferdinand E. Marcos the ruthless former Philippine ruler who fled his
native land over 3 ½ years ago. He was 72.
Disneyland says it will not discriminate based on sexual orientation after three
gay men dropped the suit over the right to slow dance with each other.
Chevrolet debuts the
ZR-1 Corvette
and it sells for about $90,000.
Braniff Airlines files for bankruptcy, canceling most of its flights.
Sports - The Chicago Cubs Clinch the NL East championship - beating Montreal
3-2.
The Largest Corporate endorsement deal so far as Michael Jackson signs with
L.A. Gear. The price - $20 million.

IBM says it has ambitious plans for its Micro Channel architecture - a design for
moving data through its PC’s.

Passing - Songwriter Irving Berlin - who was 101. His songs are beyond legendary and include “White
Christmas” and “God Bless America.”
Jimmy Buffett has a new book out - full of short stories it’s called “tales from
Margaritaville - fictional Facts from factual fictions.”
Lee Masters, MTV’s high-profile exec, resigns from the channel, citing his
discontent with the channel’s corporate reorganization.

threatened to kill her - but police say the threats remain formally in force.
Billy Joel
sues his former manager Frank Weber,
charging him with fraud, breach of contract, breach of
fiduciary duty and federal racketeering statue
violations. He’s the brother of Elizabeth Joel, Joel’s ex-
wife and he’s also the godfather of Joe’s 2-year-old
son.

Actress Zsa Zsa Gobor is convicted of slapping a
police officer, driving without a license and possessing
an open container of alcohol.
Largest Japanese acquisition to date - Columbia Pictures entertainment agrees
to be acquired by Sony Corp for $3.4 billion in cash.
