Barack Obama discloses that he raised $35.9 million in the first 15 days of
October after raising $150 million in September.
Federal authorities in Tennessee announce that they had arrested two alleged
white supremacists who were reportedly planning a killing spree what would end
with the assassination of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Arrested were Paul Schlesselman (18) of Arkansas and Daniel Cowart (20) of
Tennessee.

A federal jury finds Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska - guilty of concealing tens of
thousands of dollars in gifts and improvements to his home. He vowed to

continue campaigning for reelection to his seventh term next week. Stevens, a
Republican - is 84.
Alan Greenspan testifies before Congress - as angry lawmakers heaped blame
on the 82-year-old economist for demanding to know how he could have been so
wrong. He conceded that he was in a state of “shocked disbelief” at the
breakdown of credit markets that triggered what he called ‘a once-in-a-century
credit tsunami.”
Chicago police detain William Balfour - the estranged husband of Jennifer
Hudson, but as of now, he has not been charged in the murders.
The White House announces that the president would host the meeting of the
Group of 20 on the financial crisis after the election - and the winner would be
welcome to attend.

Music news -
The music of the Beatles will be part of a new interactive video game. From the
creators of the Rock Band game - Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and
Olivia Harrison have been involved in creating the game.
Phil Spector’s second trial opens this week and the prosecutor this time, says it
will show a history of violence leading to murder.
