A bomb thrown from the public gallery in
Jerusalem injures Prime Minister David Ben-
Gurion and four of his ministers. The bomb
thrower is identified as Moshe Ben Jacob. Police
quoted him as saying he had a grudge against
Youth Alyah, an organization for the immigration,
training and absorption of new immigrants in Israel.
Ben-Gurion received injuries from splinters in the
hands and left leg.
President Eisenhower makes an
unexpected appearance on
Broadway where the First Lady was
attending a performance of the hit
musical “ My Fair Lady .” The
President arrived after speaking at a
dinner meeting at the Waldorf-
Astoria. Few in the audience realized
the first couple was even there until
after the show. The show stars Rex
Harrison and Julie Andrews.
Bing Crosby (53) marries 23 year-old
actress Kathryn Grant, former Texas beauty queen in Las Vegas. Ever alert Las
Vegas reporters were unaware of the wedding plans until Crosby ad the actress
appeared in the Clark County Courthouse to obtain a marriage license.
Fortune Magazine identifies J.P. Getty as the richest man in the world - worth
between $700 million and a billion dollars. Other names on the list include the
Rockefellers, Du Ponts, Astors and Fords.
Passing - Louis B. Mayer - 72. Mayer retired as head of
MGM in 1951 but still had dreams to return to his former
position within the past year. His condition was diagnosed as
anemia.
Passing - Christian Dior - one of the biggest, if
not the biggest name in fashion design. Dior died
of a heart attack while vacationing in Italy. His
greatest coup was the “new look” in 1947 when he seized and held
for France, the style leadership of the world after it had threatened to

pass to the U.S. after the war. After he let skirts down in 1947, he hiked them up
in 1953 and de-emphasized the bosom in 1954.
Errol Flynn , who started a game of “hide the badge”
during a Screen Publicist’s Ball, winds up being
arrested as a drunk after a policeman didn’t get his
badge back. Officer Bill Friedman made the arrest after
Flynn started passing his badge around after taking it
and began hunting for it. His female companion said
she tucked it in a glove and promptly lost the badge.
In Doylentown, PA - a state police lieutenant orders Mrs
Anna Werner Casey to stop using the Pennsylvania
Turnpike as a private driveway. The lieutenant said that
Mrs Casey sometime drives up the turnpike and cuts off across private land to
her home.
Canned milk concentrate is developed at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
The milk maintains its fresh flavor even when kept on grocery shelves for several
months without refrigeration. The new process will make it possible to market
milk in cans.
