The Senate approves a $633 billion budget for fiscal
1981 that would allow a $39 billion tax cut to be
enacted next year.
Making a tour of Capitol Hill, President -elect Reagan
gests a nice surprise from Democratic leaders - they
will give him a six-month honeymoon by tempering
any criticism of his presidency. “I will not criticize him
for six months and I’ll work with him to turn America
around,” said House Speaker Thomas Tip O’Neill Jr.
A major fire sweeps through the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas - killing 81 and injuring 534 people.
Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter sit down together
in the Oval Office for their first private meeting since the presidential campaign.
After the 90-minute meeting, Reagan praised the President for cooperating in the
transition to the Republican administration. “He has made it much easier than it
might have been” said Reagan.
A massive earthquake strikes southern Italy, killing more than 350 people and
injuring hundreds.
A huge brush fire races through the hills above San Bernardino, CA destroying
some 250 homes.

segments for KYW-TV.

Country mania - More country converts as album rocker
KSAN-FM San Francisco becomes KMMS-FM. Also, adult-
contemporary KCBQ-AM San Diego goes country
WFBL-AM (1390) drops top-40 for the nostalgic “Music of
Your Life” format.

Barry Manila teams with Lily Tomlin for the song “The Last Duet” featured on
Manila’s upcoming “Barry” album.
Epic plans the release of “Urban Cowboy II,” a follow-up album to its successful
predecessor and containing more music of the same name.
Don’t miss Dionne Warwick hosting “Solid Gold” twice each week. It’s now seen
on 158 stations. “Solid Gold” is a mass entertainment show showcasing primarily
music, both contemporary and golden classics, country, comedy and dancing.
The show premiered in September and was originally slated for 12 shows.
Even though his music has said so lately, Bob Dylan finally says he’s a born-
again Christian. He said he accepted Jesus Christ in his heart in 1978 after a
“vision and feeling” during which “the room moved.” He was reluctant to tell
friends or put feelings into songs, but by 1979, he feared playing his old songs in
concerts because he feared they may be anti-God.

“Dallas” this week when J.R. Ewing’s wife, Sue Ellen,
named her sister (Kristin) as the trigger person of the year.

own - that she is pregnant by J.R.

television history (so far), drawing viewers in 53.3% of the nation’s TV homes
and 76% of the audience that was watching television in that time period.
