A Continental Airlines DC-9 with 82 people on board slid off a runway while
taking off from Denver‟s airport in a snowstorm, flipped over and split into pieces
as it skidded along the runway. At least 26 are dead and 56 injured.

President Reagan bid “a bittersweet” farewell to retiring

Weinberger started as a buck private and he never forgot his
origins, said the President.
President Reagan bears ultimate responsibility for the Iran-
Contra affair that plunged his Administration into crisis
because he allowed a “cabal of the zealots‟ to seize control
of policy and bypass the law, congressional investigators
said in their final report.
After four weeks of negotiations, President Reagan and congress agree on a
plan to pare the federal deficit by $30 billion this year.
Cuba agrees to reinstate an immigration agreement with the U.S. that will allow
the return to Cuba of almost 3,000 criminals and mentally ill persons who came
to the States among the thousand of refugees.
The National Organization for Women breaks from the cautious approach of
liberal groups toward Judge Anthony M. Kennedy‟s Supreme Court nomination
vowing to oppose a nominee NOW considers “a disaster‟ on women‟s issues.

million during the 4-hour10-minute benefit telethon.
