Ford says it will replace more than 10 million Firestone
tires that were not covered in last year’s massive tire
recall. The 15 and 16-inch Wilderness AT tires were
sold on sport utility-vehicles such as the Explorer,

High Tech - Compaq and IBM introduce laptop
computers with built-in wireless access. Both will
configure with antennas using the standard known
as 802.11b or Wi-Fi, which allows wireless access
wither within a building set up for the system or in
public areas with the same equipment.
Apple Computer Inc says it will open 25 retail
stores this year - its first attempt at neighborhood
computer shops.
Cisco Systems announces that it has new equipment that can support a new
system that can expand the 4.2 billion potential Internet “addresses available
today by several orders of magnitude. Urgency is needed. Experts say fewer
than 1 billion usable Internet addresses are now left for assignment and the
supply could be exhausted in a few years.
Vivendi Universal agrees to buy mp3.com for $372 million.

Trekkies - stand by for more. “Enterprise” - the fifth in the Star Trek franchise,
will debut on UPN this fall. It’s set in the 22 nd century, after the invention of the
warp drive and 100 years prior to the voyages of the original Star Ship
Enterprise.
Pax network unveils a new series “The Ponderosa” - a drama billed as a prequel
to the classic western “Bonanza.” Should start in the fall.
