Week of May 15, 1993
Press conference - President Clinton shrugs off poorer poll numbers and
defends himself over charges of indecisiveness and drift. “I’m fighting to change
things. The American people know one thing, that I’m on their side.”
In San Diego, President Clinton tells a TV
audience that he will deliver on his campaign
promise of a middle-class tax cut within his four
tear term, but he first needs to get the federal
budge back in balance.
President Clinton is in a little hot water. He
received a haircut by a high-priced celebrity stylist
at Los Angeles International Airport, and backed-
up air traffic. A spokesman for the FAA said that
Air Force One’s late departure led to a 56-minute
closing of two LAX runways, but the White House
denies any delays were encountered. Some
airlines say the opposite is true - that one was
delayed by 25 minutes.
In Fresno (CA) - two men toting semiautomatic weapons walk into a nightclub
and restaurant and open fire, killing seven and wounding two more.
Technology - Seems that the new Pentium chip, introduced last march is now
spawning a line of PC’s. Most manufacturers are expected to announce Pentium
PC’s soon.
