Actor Ed Asner says that he suspects the
White House and his own opponents in the
Screen Actors Guild may have worked for the
cancellation of his television series, “Lou Grant.”
CBS said it cancelled the show due to lower
ratings, but Asner said the ratings were not that
bad and blamed pressure on sponsors from the
Moral Majority as well as other fundamentalist
and conservative groups for CBS’s decision.
(Charlton) Heston and his all-star hit squad have
attacked me. Asner, national president of SAG,

MTV’s “House Party” contest was won by a 15-year-old from Michigan (20 miles
from Detroit). MTV began running spots - where you could win a party thrown at
your house by MTV - back in March. By the time the April 16 draw came, there
were 70,000 entries. The winner, Rob Kettenberg, watches MTV at least four
hours a day. His favorite band is Rush. About 200 of Rob’s friends joined. MTV
says the party cost an estimated $25,000.

trophy room and gold records and his collection

scored #1 hits at all four record labels he headed - Cameo/Parkway, Buddah,
Casablanca and “Boardwalk” records featuring Joan Jett. Bogart died of cancer
last week at just 39.

with the same phone #. Some of the complaints are being fielded by rock
stations. In Cleveland, a lady called a radio station to ask why hundreds of total
strangers had been calling her asking for Jenny.

of opportunity.
