Israeli Prime Minister
Yitzhak Rabin
announces that his
government will seize no more Arab-owned land in
Jerusalem to build Jewish neighborhoods - after one last
seizure. 131 acres is being taken in the south part of the
city.
Looking for a breast implant settlement? It may be harder
as Dow Corning, the main manufacturer of the silicon,
files for bankruptcy protection as the $4.23 billion
settlement may be in jeopardy.
Angry trade dispute - The White House says it will
impose a 100% tax on 13 Japanese luxury car models -
a move that will price them out of the American car
market.
In Asheville NC - A man described as “a classic loner” fired from a machine-tool
company for fighting with co-workers, walks back in and shoots three dead,
injuring four. James Floyd Davis then threw his two guns outside the building,
emptied his pockets and surrendered.
In San Diego, a man driving a
stolen tank goes on a wild ride in
San Diego streets, knocking down
power lines, hydrants and flattening
dozens of cars before he crashed
into a highway divider and was
fatally shot by police.
Technology - NBC and Microsoft
are developing CD-ROM’s and
other multi-media projects. NBC
says it is producing a documentary
on Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Radio news - KMHX-FM in Houston now has a web site
and says it’s a valuable tool for listener feedback. Says
program director Pat Paxton - “It will give listeners a new
way to directly access our radio station and tell us what
they want to hear.” The station uses on-line music surveys
for input and music research. Over 150 radio stations now have a web site with
more to come.
