Violence continues in Greece as Britain hangs two Greek Cypriot extremists
despite anti-British and anti-American riots sweeping the country. Anti-British
riots have already taken three lives and there is a call to sever diplomatic
relations with Britain.
Moscow radio expands its ominous warnings by Nikita Khrushchev, saying
Russia has the power to strike a massed blow at a major military base in the
world

protocol before Princess Margaret telling the audience
“We’ve got one of our special fans in the house and
we’re really gonna lay this one on for the Princess.” A
gasp went over the crowd at empress Hall in London.
The Princess didn’t seem to mind at all. Performers are
not supposed to mention members of the royal family
when playing before them.
Gary Crosby, son of Bing - begins 2 years in the Army.
Two older twin brothers - Dennis and Phillip are serving
with the Army in Germany.
As expected, President Eisenhower outpolls Senator Kefauver in the Indiana
primary.
Honeymooning couple Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco lunch with
Spain’s Generalissimo Franco in Pardo Palace. All members of the Spanish
government and their wives attended.
Civil War novel “Andersonville” by
MacKinlay Kantor
receives
the Pulitzer Prize for best novel of the year. “The Diary of Anne
Frank” gets the 1956 Pulitzer Prize for drama.
The U.S information agency distributes more than a million
copies of their booklet “Facts About The United States.” The
booklet, distributed in 13 languages has a major flaw - it has left
out 10 large cities including Philadelphia, Los Angeles and
Detroit.

Disneyland is spending $2 million on new adventures,
scheduled to debut next month. The new attractions include
Tom Sawyer’s Island at $250 thousand (described as a
playland out a youngster’s dream) ... The Rainbow Caverns
in Frontierland (described as an underground trip with
unbelievable sites) - $500 thousand ... Storybook Land -
$200 thousand ... A new Indian Village in Frontierland -
$100 thousand plus The Skyway (able to transport guests
from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and give them a great
view of the park) - $300 thousand. “This is proof of our
success. I wouldn’t be able to get money for expansion if
Disneyland hadn’t been paying off” says Walt Disney. Since
its opening last summer, Disneyland has had 3 million
visitors with an average expenditure of $2.29. 21% are
repeat visitors.

Lawrence Welk signs to do a second TV show. Welk says this show will
concentrate on the “Rock and Roll” audience and will feature “unknown”
performers.
After 16 years, Gene Autry and CBS part ways.
Phil Silvers
opens at the Riviera in Las Vegas to a
crowd that featured Liberace. He told the audience -
“We’ll make Elvis Presley sound like a choir boy.” On
hand were some of his “Bilko” co-stars - Maurice
Gosfield, Billy Sands, Allan Melvin and Harvey Fey.

“The Lone Ranger” will shoot its next 39 episodes in color. Shooting for the new
color version begins this week.

Montgomery Cliff
(35) is in serious condition after his auto strikes
a power pole and hurling him against the dashboard. The accident
happened after he was attending a dinner party in Beverly Hills at
the home of Elizabeth Taylor and husband Michael Wilding. Cliff
was following actor Kevin McCarthy, who was showing him the
way down the hill in another car.
