Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert resists mounting calls for his resignation after
a government-appointed panel concluded that he was responsible for a “serious
failure” of judgment that sent the army unprepared into last summer’s war in
Lebanon.
President Bush vetoes a Democratic war-spending bill that would have
compelled him to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq. “Setting a deadline for
withdrawal is setting a date for failure, and that would be irresponsible,” said the
President.
Iraq - Al Qaeda chief propagandist Muharib Abdul Latif Jubouri is slain in a U.S.
raid.
More than 100,000 Israelis gather in Tel Aviv to press Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert and defense Minister Amir Peretz to resign over their handling of the 2006
war against Hezbollah.
