floor to proclaim his innocence of any crimes for
impropriety and vowed to fight ”this preposterous
recommendation I be expelled.”
The nation’s unemployment rate jumps back up to 8.8%
in February.
President Reagan resumes his acting career appearing
briefly as himself in a television show about the
assassination attempt in which he was shot and
wounded. The program will in Washington March 30 - the first anniversary of the
event. “Saving of the President” - produced and will air over channel 7 - WJLA-
TV and is described as a docudrama. An actor portrays Reagan in various
hospital scenes.
No more Arco credit cards - Atlantic Ridgefield announces that it will stop
accepting its 3 million company-issued credit cards from customers buying
gasoline and other products.
An attorney for
Nancy Kissinger
enters an innocent plea to
charges she attacked a woman who suggested her husband,
former Secretary of state Henry Kissinger, was a homosexual.

- The FCC approves AM stereo, but, will not
dictate which five incompatible stereo systems they should
use. The FCC has decided the marketplace could do a better
job.

Manager Derek Sutton is abruptly fired by Styx and 6 ½ years with the band.
Sutton is credited with building the band’s multi-million empire.
Clarence Clemons has formed a band and taken on the road, during hiatus with
the E-Street band. It’s bit - 10 piece with a horn section.

is found dead in a $200-a-day
Hollywood suite. He was 33. He was
discovered just after noon in bed in his
bungalow suite at the Chateau Marmont Hotel
on Sunset Blvd.
Television news -
The FCC authorizes the first new broadcasting
service in 20 years - low power television.
There’s hope this will open opportunities to minorities and religious groups. The
stations will use vacant TV channels and should have a range of about 15 miles.
CBS becomes the first network in more than a decade to purchase a cable TV
system. CBS is buying a 35-channel system in the Dallas-Ft Worth area - a
system with 18,000 subscribers.
