Reformist General secretary Zhao Zlyang is fired from China’s Communist Party
and replaced with Shanghai party chief Jiang Zemin.
President Bush calls for a constitutional amendment to prohibit the desecration of
the American flag. “Flag burning is wrong… As President, I will uphold our
previous right to dissent, but burning the flag goes too far and I want to see that
matter remedied.”
The House votes unanimously for a tough package of economic sanctions
against China. They warned that the whole world is watching its suppression of
human rights.
The Supreme Court rules unanimously that the government many not band for-
pay telephone calls simply because they are sexually oriented.
The Supreme Court says murderers who are as young as 16 or who suffer
mental retardation may be put to death.
AIDS update - The FDA gives marketing approval to ganciclovir also known as
DHPG and r-erythropoietin, bringing to five the number of AIDS-related drugs
that have been made available before marketing to AIDS patients or to those
infected by the disease.

an unauthorized bio of Spector titled “He’s a Rebel” The Truth About Phil Spector
Rock and roll’s Legendary Madman.” There’re some things in there Spector
doesn’t like.
Myra Lewis - who was 13-years-old when she
married cousin Jerry Lee Lewis - says she won’t
see the new movie “Great Balls of Fire” starring
Dennis Quaid as Jerry Lee and Winona Ryder as
her. She said when the book came out, she cried
across the country doing media tours. They were
