Naval Air station, killing the two people aboard.
On the campaign trail - Al Gore says his social
security supplement plan would give matching
government funds to working and middle-class families who invest in private
mutual funds.
Rabbi Fred Neulander of New Jersey is indicted on a charge
of capital murder in the killing of his wife. Two men pleaded
guilty to killing Carol Neulander in 1994,
saying the Rabbi hired them for the job.
Authorities allege that Neulander, who
founded Congregation m’kor Shalom synagogue with his wife
in 1974, wanted her killed so he could continue to have an
affair with a Philadelphia radio personality. Carol Neulander
was found beaten to death at the couple’s home.

Walt Disney and 11 other entertainment companies
seek to shut down recordtv.com - a site that
enables users to record television shows and watch
them online. The site began three months ago by
one person
More AOL - says it has submitted a proposal to the
Internet Engineering Task Force outlining how it
could make its instant-messaging system work with
competing systems. The FCC, in reviewing AOL’s
planned merger with Time Warner, had asked the
companies to address concerns raised by rivals
regarding AOL’s practice of blocking instant
messages from consumers using other software.
AOL said it submitted a proposal to the Internet
Engineering Task Force - a volunteer organization
that makes recommendations for tech standards.
Entertainment news - Madonna purchases a $16 million home in London. She’s
six months pregnant with the child of British film director Guy Ritchie.
Television news -
Passing - Nancy Marchand - the scheming Mafia family
matriarch of “The Sopranos” on the eve of her 72 nd birthday… of
lung cancer. She was also known as Lou Grant’s boss on the
same-name TV series. Despite her illness, she continued to
appear on HBO’s “Sopranos” now in its second season.
CBS says Nickelodeon (Nick Jr.) will supply its Saturday morning
kids lineup in the fall. New shows include “Little Bill,” the
animated series created by Bill Cosby, “Blue’s Clues,” “Dora the Explorer, “Little
Bear,” “Franklin” and “Kipper.”
A hit - The third “Survivor” airing increases its audience share by 5 million over
the second episode, with an estimated audience of 23.3 million.
MTV’s “Road Rules” returns this week. Six adventurers confront the open road
and each other on the “Maximum Velocity Tour.”

PETA blasts the CBS-TV reality show “Survivor” because apparently, rats were
eaten. “You have people who think it’s fun to trap rats, cut of their legs, skin them
and eat them.” “There’s nothing funny about that,” said a spokesperson.

cartoon series these days. He’s “C-
Bear” in the Fox Children’s Network
series “C-Bear and Jamal.” He also
serves as executive producer of the

because basically, there were no
