The Supreme Court rules that the government generally may not be sued for
negligence in commercial air disasters.
216-210 vote - The House barely passes passed the Simpson-Mazzoli
immigration bill and it must now before a conference committee of House and
Senate negotiators. The bill grants amnesty to millions of aliens living illegally in
the United States.
The gross national product is growing at a strong 5.7% annual rate after roaring
ahead far beyond expectations in the first quarter.

disabled, being held in the U.S. for
the first time. “You’re proving that a
disability doesn’t have to stand in
the way of a full and active life,” said
the President.
House and Senate tax writers agree
to limit the tax breaks for luxury cars
used in business and tighten
business deductions allowed for the
home use of personal computers and other items.
President and Mrs. Reagan announce that their daughter, Patti Davis will marry
yoga instructor Paul Grilley on Aug. 14 at the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles.

brain burst. She was only 30.
A made-for-TV movie is coming - “The Ewok Movie,” George
Lucas will serve as executive producer.
Television news -
Martin Short of SCTV will join the cast of “Saturday Night
Live” next season.
New to ABC-TV daytime - “The Love Report.” It’s produced
by KABC-TV Los Angeles with anchors Chuck Henry and Tawny Schneider.
Gina Lollobrigida has signed to be a regular on CBS’ “Falcon Crest” next season.

Century-Fox Licensing & Merchandising has entered
into a contract for the manufacture and distribution of designer nurses clothing
under the name of the TV series “Trapper John, M.D.” The outfits will retail for
between $26 and $52.

Dan Haggerty
- better known as TV’s “Grizzly Adams, has been arrested
after selling cocaine to an undercover narcotics officer. The 42-year-old actor
sold an officer about a half an ounce on one occasion and approximately an
eighth of an ounce another time.

Dates for the first leg of Bruce Springsteen’s tour are set. It all begins June 29 in
St. Paul.
On MTV this week - The Pretenders in concert.
The Jacksons’ tour has announced that ticket prices will be $30.
While in Chicago - don’t miss “Music Video 60” over WPWR Channel 60. It airs
two hours each weekday afternoon and is tops in the ratings among teenagers.
CBS, RCA, MCA and Geffen have reached agreement with MTV for exclusive
broadcast rights to selected video clips for periods ranging from one week to 30
days. One record company, Elektra, says there will no such deal.

Alan Berg

multiple gunshot wounds after being ambushed outside his
condominium. Berg (50) had reported death threats to police
several times.
