Canada signs gay marriage legislation into law, becoming the fourth nation to
grant full legal rights to same-sex couples.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California dismissed criticism of his $8 million
consulting deal with a magazine publisher, saying its much ado about nothing.

Microsoft Corp. says it would buy FrontBridge
Technologies Inc., its second acquisition this year of an
e-mail anti-virus protection provider. FrontBridge
provides an outsourcing service that allows companies
to have their e-mails and instant messaging scanned
before they reach internal corporate networks.
FrontBridge allows companies to back up their
messages and comply with regulations.

In its latest version of iTunes, Apple says it now supports podcasts - the ever-
growing audio information source.
E-Bay reports a 53% jump in second-quarter profit. Shares rose 14% to $39.82 in
trading.
Hidden sex scenes - Retailers begin to pull copies of “Grand Theft Auto: San
Andreas” after the Entertainment software Ratings Board revoked the game’s
“Mature” rating and raised it to “Adults Only.”
Hewlett-Packard says it would cut 14,500 jobs or 10% of its workforce.
MySpace.com a popular place for teens and young hip adults, is going to be
purchased by Rupert Murdock’s News Corp. The deal is worth $580 million and
the seller is Intermix Media Inx.
Technology research firm Yankee Group forecasts that digital audio player sales
will top 33 million by year’s end, up from slightly more than 10 million 2004.

reveals that comedian Adam
Carolla and ex-rocker David Lee Roth will take
over his morning show in Los Angeles, and New
York respectively. Stern is counting the days
before he moves to Sirius Satellite radio in
January.
Don’t miss “The Jeff Foxworthy Countdown” which
airs on more than 220 radio stations. Foxworthy
also has written 13 books and has a deal for
another, “The Redneck Dictionary,” due this fall.
He also stars in and produces the WB series “Blue

An article in the Detroit Free Press, citing colleagues and
business associates suggests that Eminem will retire the
Eminem persona and concentrate on discovering and
producing other artists when the “Anger Management” tour
concludes Sept. 17 in Ireland.

Brat Camp - the two-hour premiere of the unscripted series chronicling the
experiences of nine out-of-control teens at an Oregon wilderness school, comes
in at #4 in the overall ratings.
Fox News Channel announces that it has hired former CNN anchor Bill Hemmer
as a weekday anchor and correspondent.
Debuting this week on TBS - “Minding the Store” which shows Pauly Shore
trying to revive the fortunes of West Hollywood’s Comedy store, owned by his
mother.
