In Japan - the ruling liberal Democratic Party fails to win a majority in the lower
house of Parliament - the first time in its 38-yeear history, as a new conservative
opposition makes a showing.
President Clinton eases restrictions barring homosexuals from joining the
military. He hailed the change as “an honorable compromise.” Homosexuals will
still be subject to inquiries and discharge.
Former House Postmaster Robert Rota admits in
federal court that he conspired with members of
Congress to provide with thousands of dollars in
cash in exchange for expense vouchers and
stamps purchased with taxpayer money. He
implicated
Dan
Rostenkowski
- a House and
Means Chairman in the scandal.
President Clinton is a guest on Larry King’s CNN
show. He’ll answer calls from viewers during the
one-hour interview.
