President Clinton wants the

resignation of embattled FBI

Director William Sessions and is

prepared to fire him.

In Japan - the ruling liberal Democratic Party fails to win a majority in the lower

house of Parliament - the first time in its 38-yeear history, as a new conservative

opposition makes a showing.

President Clinton eases restrictions barring homosexuals from joining the

military. He hailed the change as “an honorable compromise.” Homosexuals will

still be subject to inquiries and discharge.

Former House Postmaster Robert Rota admits in

federal court that he conspired with members of

Congress to provide with thousands of dollars in

cash in exchange for expense vouchers and

stamps purchased with taxpayer money. He

implicated Dan Rostenkowski - a House and

Means Chairman in the scandal.

President Clinton is a guest on Larry King’s CNN

show. He’ll answer calls from viewers during the

one-hour interview.

Technology -

Apple Computer announces a loss of $188.3 million for its fiscal third quarter -

the largest in its 17-year history and far worse than analysts expected.

Cable channel Bravo says it will expand to 24 hours - up from 10 hours on

weekdays and 13 on weekends.

New channel - BookNet - a new cable channel about the book world is set to

launch next year. Author E.L. Doctorow will oversee programming.

MTV will its first spoken word “Unplugged: program

featuring Henry Rollins, Maggie Estep , Reg E. Gaines,

Barry Yourgrau, Edwin Torres, Bob Holman and 99. Each

artist will appear on stage for an average of two to three

minutes in diverse subject matter.

Ralph Emery steps down has host of “Nashville

Now” on TNN in order to develop and produce

TNN specials under his Ralph Emery Television

weeknight series staring September 27… “Music

City Tonight,” a 90-minute live nightly
