partnership in the Democratic presidential campaign including “participation in
the decision-making process” and “shared responsibility” for developing the
party‟s message.
By the end of the year - Vietnam‟s foreign minister pledges to try to resolve 70
cases of missing U.S. servicemen that the United States considers of highest
priority.
The
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini
says that
accepting a U.N. resolution calling for a cease-fire
in the Iran-Iraq war was “worse than drinking
poison,” but that Iran‟s political leaders
recommended it be done.
After nearly eight years of war, Iran announces
that it has accepted the terms of a U.N. resolution
calling for a cease-fire with Iraq.
Relatives of the discredited former Soviet leader
Leonid I. Brezhnev have been stripped of
“undeserved” pensions and other privileges they
inherited from the previous regime. The clan
included Brezhnev‟s daughter Galina, long a
subject of speculation about corruption, his son Yuri and Brezhnev‟s brother
Yakov. It‟s the latest blow in a campaign to blacken the reputation of the man
who ruled from 1964 until his death in 1982.

video is stolen. The heist occurred at a suburban Detroit
shopping mall from an exhibit called “MTV‟s Museum of Unnatural History.”
Bruce Springsteen tops a lineup that includes Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy
Chapman, and Yossou N‟ Dour for Amnesty International‟s upcoming Human
Rights New world tour.
Guns N‟ Roses‟ “Appetite For Destruction” cracks the Billboard Top-5 after
spending 47 weeks on the pop album charts. It‟s the sixth metal-based album to
place the top five or so this year, following Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Scorpions,
Poison and Van Halen‟s “OU812.”
Touted as the summer‟s hottest tour, the five-act Monsters of Rock is fizzling at
the box office. At least five promoters suffered big losses after the first dozen
shows of the 29-date tour. The nine-hour concert features Van Halen, Scorpions,
Dokken, Metallica and Kingdom Come.

Simmons records. “I‟ve discovered several bug bands but
never had anything to show for it because I‟ve always

Retailers are gearing p for MTV‟s largest point-of-purchase
promotion to date, a contest designed to supports its 1988
MTV Video Music Awards scheduled for Sept. 7. Look for
