the inner-German border essentially
stands no longer.” For the first time
since, travelers can cross the border
unchecked.
The state of New York passes a bill
allowing New Yorkers to appoint a
friend or relative to pull the plug on life support systems when they are terminally
ill. Speaking enthusiastically, Governor Mario Cumo said “This legislation
provides New Yorkers with a vehicle to ensure that treatment is provided
according to their own personal, religious and moral convictions as conveyed by
someone they have selected and trust.”
Former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos is cleared of fraud and racketeering
charges that accused her of helping to loot her nation’s treasury and making
multimillion-dollar purchases of art, jewelry and real estate in Manhattan.
Reforms aside, Republican Senator’s
Charles Grassley
of Iowa and Will Roth Jr. of Delaware still want to know
why the military is spending big money on small supplies.
In a letter to the defense department, a sampling from an
audit indicated that problem has not been solved and
pointed out the recent purchases of $999 for pliers, $117
for a soap dish cover and $1,500 for a hydraulic hand
jack.
In an interview with People Magazine, Reidun Torrie, a former maid for the
Trumps, says her ex-employers have no class. “I just couldn’t take it anymore...
When the Trumps came, they put plastic Trump Castle ice buckets in each of the
