A detailed road map of Enron Corp’s aggressive accounting
maneuvers and an uncannily accurate prediction of the company’s
collapse were laid before Enron Chairman Kenneth L. Lay in
August, in a memo made public this week.
More Enron - Enron Chairman Kenneth L. Lay was warned last summer by a
company vice president that the energy company’s financial practices might
cause it to “implode in a wave of accounting scandals,” congressional
investigators said.
The collapse of Enron, so far a political, legal and investor crisis, now imposes
widespread costs on the U.S. economy. Electricity and natural gas companies
face higher costs and projects to build power infrastructures have come to a halt.

Chicago, Laker Shaq O’Neal is suspended for three
days. He’ll lose three days pay ($714,000) and will be
fined $15,000. O’Neal through the punch at Bull center Brad Miller.

Television news - The Sundance Channel, owned by

digital cable channel devoted entirely to documentaries.
After nine years, “The X-Files” will be folding. Overall,
the show has been averaging 8.7 million viewers, down
dramatically from its peak season (1996-1997) when
the weekly audience was 18.3 million.
Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s “Six Feet Under” signs a seven-figure deal that will
keep him producing the series for at least tow more years.
Regis Philbin turns down a syndicated version of “Who Wants To Be A
Millionaire.” The show is being sold in syndication, but still doesn’t have a host.
CNN hires former Fox Sports Net anchor Keith Olberman as a contributing editor
to “NewsNight With Aaron Brown.
Monica Lewinsky announces a documentary on
her White House experience - “Monica in Black and
White” which will air March 3 on HBO>
Music news - Jennifer Lopez has four films due for
release within the next two years: The
Chambermaid, a romantic comedy; Enough , a
drama in which she plays an abused wife; Gigli - a
crime drama and thriller Tick Tock.
MTV will premiere “The Osbournes” on March 5, a
hybrid reality-comedy show starring heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, his wife
Sharon and their two teenage children Kelly and Jack.

E! News online reports Bruce Springsteen has granted a
tentative clearance to turn his songs into a rock opera called
“Drive All Night.” The rocker is expected to preview a rough
demo of the two-hour production in March.
George Harrison’s widow Olivia Arias Harrison files a civil
suit against her former brother-in-law, Carl Roles and his
current wife, Carol, for allegedly stealing Harrison
memorabilia and attempting to sell it the day after the former
Beatles’ death.
