Just two years and a day after the breakout of the Persian Gulf War - U.S navy
ships unleash a barrage of 40 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a nuclear fabricating
plant on the outskirts of Baghdad. The round was a continuing effort to force
Saddam Hussein to comply with U.N resolutions. White House spokesman
Marlin Fitzwater said he hopes the attack “makes the point to the people of the
country, as well as to the government, that we are demanding compliance and
that we are willing to enforce the resolutions of the U.N Security council.” Iraq’s
repeated violation of U.N terms includes failure to remove missile sites from
threatening locations and to desist from violating the no-fly zone below the 32nd
Parallel.
The Clintons
bid a farewell in Little
Rock and climb aboard a private jet
to head east. Said Bill Clinton: “You
know as I do, the road ahead is
difficult and there will be
uncertainties and setbacks along
the way, but I am confident that
together we will do this work” They’ll
head to Charlottesville, VA where
the President-elect will join Vice-
President elect Al Gore, where
they’ll visit the Thomas Jefferson home. From there, they’ll take a 120-mile bus
ride up to Washington for four days of inaugural celebrations before swearing-in.
A judge orders a full-fledged hearing into
Woody Allen
’s request that he be allowed
to visit his children after charges are
raised that he had sex while his and (Mia)
Farrow’s children were present. Both Allen
and his lawyers strongly deny the
allegations. A lawyer for Farrow testified
that their 7 year-old adopted daughter
(Dylan) told Connecticut investigators that
she saw Allen having sex with
Soon-Yi
Farrow Previn
(21) one of Farrow’s
adopted daughters from her former
marriage to conducter Andre Previn. Allen and Soon-Ye Farrow Previn have
already acknowledged they are lovers.
