The Vatican and the State Of Israel ratify a landmark agreement to establish full
diplomatic relations - ushering in a new era in the often-contentious 2000-year
relationship between the Jews and Christians. The 15-article agreement provides
for the immediate exchange of diplomatic representatives and the appointment of
ambassadors.
The “Guns For Toys” program in New York is so
successful over the holiday season that organizers
plan to take it nationwide. The four-day program
netted 317 guns - from hunting rifles to machineguns.
Lines of gun owners lined-up in front of police stations,
to exchange their guns for $100 gift certificates from
Toys R Us.
Pop music star Michael Jackson is hit with a $20
million lawsuit in a fraud and breach of contract claim by the promoter of the
canceled “Dangerous” world tour. The suit alleges the Jackson refused to
reimburse Marcel Avram, the owner of Mama Concerts, the money for debts
resulting from cancellations on the tour.
DJ Howard Stern does his first pay per view special on New Year’s Eve. Stern
made his grand entrance on a rising toilet quipping “Forty bucks to watch me
take a dump!”

than 100 pop and film tunes including “Gone With The Wind”
and Walt Disney’s Cinderella.

says Euro-Disney in Paris could close if efforts to improve
the park’s financial health fall through. The park lost $920
million in its fiscal year ended September 30. Analysts say
it is unlikely that Disney will close the park. The company’s reputation is at stake
in the venture
Tony Danza’s
injuries from a skiing accident are
more serious than first reported. After several days
in intensive care, Danza underwent back surgery.
He had 5 broken ribs, internal bleeding and bruises.

Actress Kim Basinger seeks further Bankruptcy protection. She’ll convert a
chapter 11 filing earlier this year to a chapter 7. Under chapter 7, her estate will
be subject to liquidation by a trustee and distributed to her creditors. Basinger
lost a case with Main Line Productions because she reneged on a word of mouth
agreement to appear in the film “Boxing Helena.” The jury awarded Main Line 8
million dollars. Under chapter 11, the court would have required her to pay back
a substantial amount, if not all of it.
