“AOL Anywhere” - AOL says a unit to
oversee the next-generation cable TV
services such as video on demand and
AOL TV. IT also said it is slashing prices
on its devices that enable customers to
connect to the online service without using a PC - such as its AOL Mobile
Communicator and AOL TV set-top boxes.
Interesting - MTV says it rarely bothers to lock up its talent because it knows
each new generation wants its own heroes. The latest? Jackass’ Johnny
Knoxville may leave after being with the show for one season. MTV talents are
signed to one-year contracts.

Scoop - Rep Gary Condit will give his first interview regarding missing intern
Chandra Levy to Connie Chung of ABC. The interview will air this Thursday on
“PrimeTime Live.”
ON HBO - “Shot in the Heart” - about the relationship murderer Gary Gilmore
had with his brother - Mikal. The show uses “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” - a 1977
punk release by the British punk band - the Adverts.
On Saturday Night Live this week - Mena Suvari hosts with musical guest Lenny
Kravitz.

sent a videotape offering congratulations. Appearing - Sum-41, TLC, Billy Idol,
Kid Rock (without his Twisted Brown Trucker band), Mary J. Blige. Madonna was
another no-show.

Roger Daltrey (The Who), will host VH1’s first scripted drama series - “Strange
Frequency.”
Don Cornelius - producer of “Soul Train” says MTV has been pressuring African
American artists not to appear on his “Lady of Soul Awards” program which airs
the same week as the MTV “Video Music Awards.” This year, Alicia Keys was
supposed to, or booked on both shows. MTV contends it does have appearance
parameters - but that goes for all other competing shows - black or white - even
talk shows such as the Tonight Show.
