President Eisenhower reaffirms his “complete satisfaction” with Richard Nixon as
his Vice President. He praised Nixon’s “splendid record” in the office, and
declined to discuss and other running mate.

of Tennessee drops out of the
Presidential race and instead, puts his support behind
Adlai Stevenson.
Britain and France advice their nationals to leave Egypt
and move toward a war footing in the Mediterranean.
President Eisenhower plays golf for the first time since his
June 9 abdominal operation. He told the press he felt fine.
As Egypt calls in reservists in the Suez war of nerves,
Britain sends more military and naval reinforcements to the Mediterranean as a
show of muscle in the Suez Canal crisis.
A close source says President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt has made-up his
mind to fight if necessary against international control for the Suez Canal.
Staff Sgt. Matthew McKeon is cleared of manslaughter for the deaths of 6
Marines who drowned under the drill sergeant’s watch. Later, he is sentenced to
9 months in prison, but is awaiting appeal.

Kirk Douglas
files a $415,000 invasion of privacy suit
against Walt Disney and ABC after films of him riding Walt
Disney’s miniature railway train at Mr. Disney’s house, were
aired on the network. By showing this film on “Disneyland,”
Mr. Douglas alleged, the defendants “betrayed and violated
his privacy and personal security.” And the film was shown
a second time - on June 6. The Douglas family was invited
to Mr. Disney’s home for a social visit when the film was
shot.
Ed Sullivan (54) is hurt in a head-on crash in Connecticut.
The television host suffered a broken rib and will be out for a few weeks.

George Reeves
who portrays “Superman” on the
syndicated series, is in New York to appear on “Romper
Room” over WABC-TV with Ms. Jane Fisher. The, he’ll
appear on the Tony Bennett summertime show on
NBC-TV where he will sing and play guitar! WABC-TV
carries “Superman” in New York.
ABC says it has come-up with a 10oz TV camera and
will use it at the forthcoming political conventions. The
camera is four inches long and two inches in diameter.
