political parties sign a peace and power-sharing agreement - to end the
bloodshed in Ireland.
Russian President Boris N. Yeltsin orders an economic onslaught against
neighboring Latvia. He said it deserved punishment for discriminating against its
significant minority of Soviet-era ethnic Russian immigrants. He called for
“targeted economic measures.”
Ford Motor Co. says it plans to offer side air bags on all of its cars within three
years - the first major U.S. auto firm to do so.
Xerox Corp. said it will cut nearly 10% of its work force and take a $ billion
second-quarter charge in a restructuring designed to strengthen its position in the
business of digital copiers and printers.
