Barack Obama angrily disowns his former pastor and friend of 20 years, the Rev.
Jeremiah W. Wright Jr. saying that Wright’s recent comments about race, religion
and the U.S. government were “divisive and destructive” and had undermined the
purpose of Obama’s presidential candidacy.
The government’s economic stimulus program begins - with payouts going out.

Former President Bill Clinton accuses the Barack Obama campaigning of playing
‘the race card’ on him after the South Carolina primary, a charge that drew a
rebuke from Obama.

Warren Buffet signs a deal with candy maker Mars Inc. to buy chewing gum
manufacturer Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co for $23 billion. The deal gives Buffett’s
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. a stake of more than 10% in Wrigley.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 as Johan Franzen
scores three times.
Music news -
British band “Coldplay” is making the first single “Violet Hill” off their new album,
“Via la Vida,” for free via download. The offer stands for a week only. The band
also announces free concerts in New York and London about the time the album
comes out - June 17.
Amy Winehouse is arrested in London after
reportedly assaulting a man outside a bar.
Scott Welland - once the lead in the Stone Temple
Pilots (and now back), pleads no contest to
misdemeanor drunk driving.
Singer Mindy McCready says she has had an affair
with athlete Roger Clemons. He had filed a
defamation suit to protect his reputation - accusing
his former trainer of lying by claiming he injected
Clemens with steroids and human growth
hormone.
Yoko Ono sues the producers of TV personality
Ben Stein for a documentary that supports
teaching the theory of intelligent design to children, claiming it uses the John
Lennon song, “Imagine” without permission.

photos have shown up on the Internet. She appears
draped over the lap of a young man - exposing her bare
midriff. In another - she tugs at her white tank top to
flash her pea-green bra.
Variety reports that Mel Gibson, who has kept a low-
profile since his anti-Semitic outburst in July 2006, will star in the movie “Edge of
Darkness.”

live on the Internet. Thewb.com is scheduled to debut this August and will feature
episodes of such popular Warner Bros series as “Friends,’ the O.C.,” and
“Gilmore Girls.”
