China permits U.S. officials to meet for the third time with crewmembers of an

American spy plane stranded on an island in the South China Sea, but demands

that the U.S. issue an apology for the midair collision that brought the aircraft

down.

After 11 days in Chinese detention - all 24 crew members of a U.S. spy plane

safely back on American soil, Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, tells a news

conference that the Chinese F-8 fighter pilot was solely responsible for the

accident.

President Bush unveils a $1.96-trillion budget that trims hundreds of programs

and boosts discretionary spending 4%.

Seven same-sex couples file suit to be allowed to marry in Massachusetts, less

than two weeks after four gay couples exchanged wedding vows in the

Netherlands.

Speaking of the Netherlands, the Dutch Senate OK’s a law allowing terminally ill

patient’s right to suicide and a doctor’s immunity from prosecution for assisting.

This makes the Dutch government the first to fully legalize euthanasia.

Making music is the star of Broadway’s “Mamma Mia” - Louise Pitre. The

musical features 22 ABBA songs.

NBC is closing its NBCi Internet site, NBC put more than $100 million in cash

and assets into NBCi after combining NBC.com, the Xoom.com commerce site

and Snap.com Web search site several years ago.

Yahoo says it will close its X-rated online store and block merchants from selling

adult-oriented material on the world’s leading Internet site.

Yahoo posts a first-quarter loss and says it will let-go 12% of its work force.

U.S. district Judge Marilyn Hall Patel of San Francisco tells Napster that its

efforts to block copyright violations were “disgraceful,” and warned she might

order the online song-sharing system to shut down> She says she won’t act until

a newly appointed technical expert reviews the situation.

Amazon.com says its first-quarter loss would be smaller than Wall Street had

expected. The company says it lost less than $255=million in the first three

months of the year, an improvement from its $308-million loss a year earlier.

Wilmington, NC hospital after he was allegedly

attacked by a knife-wielding 21-year-old Wilmington

man. Also arrested in the bar melee was actor Vince

Vaughn (31) and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg (37).

All were in the area to shoot a movie called

“Domestic Disturbances,” which stars John Travolta.

Green.

Stella McCartney - daughter of Linda and Paul

McCartney is getting her own designer label from

the Gucci Group. She was with the French house of

Chloe, which she was hired to revive in 1997. “I’m incredibly excited by the

decision.” Ms. McCartney rocketed to stardom on fringed rock ‘n’ roll dresses and

glam t-shirts embraced by famous friends such as Liv Tyler and Chrissie Hynde.

Passing - British entertainer/comedian Harry Secombe. He was 79.

high school outcast.

enters #1 on the national sales charts.

Carol Dennis - former backup singer for Bo Dylan reveals that the two were

secretly married from 1986 to 1992 and had a daughter together. She called him

“a wonderful and active father.” The daughter is now 15.
