More than 60 Soviet submariners are now feared dead as a result of the
explosion that sank an advanced nuclear-powered submarine in artic waters off
Norway. President Mikhail Gorbachev said “The possibility of a nuclear
explosion and radioactive pollution of the environment is excluded, according to
the opinion of experts.”
Sixteen people are killed in clashes between nationalist demonstrators and
security forces in the Georgian Republic Capital Tbilisi
The Bush Administration unveils an $80-million plan to build prisons in the
nation’s capital and deploy federal agents in its streets in an effort to crack down
on an unprecedented wave of drug-related violence.
At Sydney, Australia - A supersonic Concorde jet carrying 100 Americans
dropped a nine-foot piece of its tail over the South pacific during an attempt to set
a speed record, but it landed safely and passengers were reported eager to try
again. At the time, the jet was flying at 40,000 feet at about 1,500mph.

Consumer News and Business Channel begins with 13
million homes. The channel though, says it needs to be
in 30 million homes to break-in. Rival FNN is now
available to 31 million cable homes.
