President Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin fail to overcome their
conflicts on a missile defense system the U.S. plans to build in Central Europe.
Hillary Rodham Clinton launches a TV ad that questions John McCain’s
readiness to deal with an economic crisis. The ad is called “3a.m” and goes
something like this - “John McCain just said the government shouldn’t take any
real acting on the housing crisis; he’d let the phone keep ringing. “Hillary Clinton
has a plan to protect our homes, create jobs. It’s 3 a.m., time for a president
who’s ready,” says a voice/over announcer.
President Bush tells a NATO summit that the U.S. would increase its number of
troops in Afghanistan.
Senate Democratic and Republican leaders reach agreement on a multibillion-
dollar package to address rampant foreclosures and other problems stemming
from the bad housing market.
At the National Hurricane Center in Orlando - FEMA announces not to expect to
get free ice anymore.

Apple files a federal challenge to New York’s

Looks like iTunes is the #1 music seller - behind
Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Amazon.
MySpace unveils a joint venture with the world’s
top three music labels to offer music for sale and
it’s likely to give iTunes a run for its money.
Amazon TextBuyit launches this week - and lets people text the name of a
product, its description or its UPC or ISBN or 262966 - (that spells Amazon)
that’s from anywhere their cellphones work, including inside stores.

Live Nation Inc says that it had
reached an agreement for a 12-
year global contract to handle the merchandising, digital and branding rights of
the Irish rock band U2. It comes five months after Live Nation announced a
comprehensive partnership with Madonna.

ER is picked up for a 15 th and final season.
